Mike’s story begins like many other West Virginians. Growing up in a working class family, his mother taught him at an early age that nothing comes easy, and if you want something badly enough, you have to work for it. Working hard is exactly what Mike did. After graduating from Marshall University with degrees in Finance, Management, and Health Care Management, Mike set out to pursue his dream of owning his own business. He took the skills he had learned from working his way through college and put them to work for himself, starting his Cabell County-based small business, Ankrom Properties, which continues to see growth and success.

Through the development of his business, Mike holds fast to the importance of family, which he learned from his mother and grandmother. When making decisions, Mike always considers how he can ensure a better, more promising future for his family.

The promise of a better future is at the heart of Mike’s faith. He and his wife Nora are active members of Lewis Memorial Baptist Church in Huntington, WV, serving as teachers in the college and career ministry. Mike and Nora value the opportunity to work with young adults as they transition through key times in their lives. Mike embraces faith as a key component to a strong future, and he unashamedly claims that his faith guides his decisions.

Mike is no stranger to politics, actively working for a better West Virginia for more than a decade. He has served in various positions in local, statewide and national campaigns, and most recently served as the Chairman of the Cabell County Republican Party. Mike is now resolved that it is time to take the next step in his public service by representing the people of the 17th District. Will you join Mike in changing West Virginia into a state were success isn’t just a dream but a reality?
